With or without food allergies, if you’re traveling to NYC Bareburger is 100% worth a stop!
I discovered Bareburger on AllergyEats NYC, and ate there for the first time during my trip last year. It was so good that we made it a priority to eat there again this past weekend!
The home page on their site reads,
“Bareburger is where you can have it all: the best ethically sourced ingredients, an allergy-friendly kitchen (yes, we have dedicated fryers), big flavor and big fun.”
Allergy-friendly kitchen!? DEDICATED FRYERS!? Say less.
For those who aren’t familiar, dedicated fryers are a BIG deal in the food allergy community. Oftentimes, although fries or similar foods would be otherwise safe, they are more than likely prepared in a shared fryer with additional items that may not be safe - leading to cases of cross contamination.
Being able to safely order fries at a restaurant may seem like a small thing to be excited over, but it’s truly a luxury for those with food allergies. It is so encouraging to discover a new place with dedicated fryers!
Bareburger has a large variety of options for those who are vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan - as well as offering salads and sandwiches along with their array of burgers.
I opted to order utilizing their “Be My Burger” method, in which you able to customize your meal by selecting your choice of bun (v & gf offered*), cheese (v offered), protein (large range of both meat and non-meat options), veggies, sauces, and other add-ons.
I am often made fun of for my choice to order burgers wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, but it is a legit option on the menu at Bareburger - so that’s another point for them in my book ;)
My order was super simple, but if you're interested I'll list below:
My Order!
Very basic I know, but you can’t go wrong with a classic and I don’t get too adventurous when it comes to trying new things away from home.
Overall my meal was a 10/10! So yummy and filling, and after a long day of traversing the city I completely cleaned my plate! Fries were obviously 10/10 so good, and I surprisingly really enjoyed their ketchup as well.
Matt ordered their Moroccan salad and rated it a firm 11/10, saying it was,
“The best salad he's ever had.”
He also made that statement prior to knowing I was planning on writing a blog post, so you can trust it’s unbiased.
My Life in Labels only believes in authentic reviews!! :)
Bareburger has a number of locations downstate and in New Jersey as well, so if you’re ever in the area I would definitely recommend giving them a try!
Thank you so much for reading, and thank you Bareburger for such an enjoyable and safe experience eating out in NYC!
Check them out below!!
