Hi everyone! Long time no see ahhh!

Okay, so maybe I was in over my head when I expected I would have time to run a blog while at school. Oops.

This past semester has been a busy one, but it makes me so sad to put a project I’m so passionate about and excited for on the back burner!

With that being said, it is officially summer and My Life in Labels is back in action. ;)

So here’s a little update post to get caught up to speed!!

First things first, I am super excited to be joining FARE’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG)!

I spontaneously applied to this program at the start of the spring semester, and was welcomed as a member back in March!

If you don’t know what FARE is, you can learn more about the organization here:

Essentially, FARE stands for Food Allergy Research & Education, and is the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to food allergy awareness, education, research, and advocacy.

They provide a wide array of awesome information, programs, and resources about food allergies and anaphylaxis!

FARE has been a part of my life since my family first started to participate in their food allergy walks. They’ve kick-started amazing initiatives such as the Teal Pumpkin Project to make Halloween safer and more inclusive, have advocated for the passage of acts such as FASTER (adds sesame to the list of major food allergens !!), and offer an abundance of resources from college to travel to anything food allergies.

I did in fact go all out each year and make custom t-shirts myself. Very extra I know.

Basically, they’re a great place to learn more about how to manage your own allergies and build community, or the perfect hub of info to learn how to best support loved ones with food allergies. :)

And I am so grateful to now be contributing to this community!

TAG is comprised of teens looking to make a difference for others living with

food allergies like themselves, and they create content for FARE’s blog as well as Teen Corner, serve as leaders at FARE’s national events, and contribute to a variety of self-led projects from podcasts, to YouTube channels, to dreams as big as books.

Sooo maybe be on the lookout for some of my writing over there soon! :)

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce this as I added it to the insta bio ;) and if I post content related to this experience in the future this post could serve as a kind of preface!

The #Katherine'sKrew merch didn't end there. Jeez Louise. I'm a dedicated FARE supporter tho !!

At 19 I'm joining a bit late in the game, but am excited to hopefully bring my knowledge of navigating food allergies in a college setting to the table, and am eager to see what this new opportunity will bring.

I also just wanted to touch upon all of the notable events of May - from Mother’s Day, to food allergy awareness week, to the whole month being dedicated to mental health awareness.

Mother’s Day happened to be a busy one at my house this year, but I wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom, and I’d love to write a post with her soon as she honestly knows more about food allergies than I do. And food allergy moms are simply built different.

I had drafted a post on food allergy anxiety for this past month since I thought it would be fitting while the door was open for a variety of mental health discussions, but it’s a topic so important to me that I found myself struggling a bit to say everything just right.

I came to the conclusion that I should just throw expectations out of the window lol so I’m posting “Episode One” on a little series dedicated to food allergy anxiety today a long with this post. Woo hoo!

Okay okay I think that’s all for now thanks for reading my rambling update post!! Either tomorrow or Friday my Grammy and I are making the infamous chocolate balls so probably expect a quick recipe post soon and we’ll go from there!

Can’t reiterate enough how excited I am for this project, thanks for being here. :)
